DIGITAL DIVIDE LECTURE SERIES: LYNETTE KVASNY
CULTURAL APPROPRIATIONS OF TECHNICAL CAPITAL:
Black women, weblogs, and the digital divide
This is that lecture I was in the other week that talks about black women commenters on Jezebel, Racialicious, etc. It is worth a watch. I guarantee you all will see comments/commenters you recognize. I’m pretty sure she may have quoted some of you.
The questions are gold. Awkward white people asking about blackness! (“Do the black women take offense at the things the white women say?”)
I asked about MizJ. That’s at around 43:30. My explaining is so awkward, forgive me. Her answer is basically, “Jesus. I can’t even.”
